Chapter 3

James 3:6

And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell




verses 1-12



This chapter is straightforward. If you are a true Christian, you can not let both holiness and ungodliness manifest in you. Speak blessings not condemnation!

Chapter 2

James 2: 19-20 

You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?

Chapter 1

James 1:22

But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.



vv 23-24. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer,
he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 
for he observes himself, goes away,
and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.



James, the half-brother of Jesus wrote this book. He used a very powerful illustration on how to receive God's word (vv 23-24). We must so hunger and thirst for it that once ingested, spiritual nourishment is achieved. Thus, His word stays in us forever.
